Remembrance Day Tree

Each year we place poppies on the Remembrance Day Tree beside the store. Stop by and add a poppy to the tree! or better yet, start a Remembrance Tree tradition of your own.

The store is closed on Remembrance Day, as usual.

This year is especially significant.

We think the trees on these streets were planted by WWII veterans who returned from the war and got jobs working for the city, planting trees in the booming neighbourhoods in the late 1940s. Now the City of Edmonton will be cutting down the trees on this street, to make room for traffic changes due to LRT construction. We have tried to make a difference and stop this tree removal but we're sad to say they are slated to be cut in the next few weeks.
